Given the critical importance of the global education agenda, specifically transforming education for sustainable development, NYU Center for Global Affairs (CGA) is organizing a roundtable to discuss the topic of “Transforming Education: Preparing Future-fit Leaders for the Sustainable Development Era.” In the context of the Transforming Education Summit that the UN Secretary-General will convene this September, the roundtable aims to explore emerging solutions and collaborations needed to accelerate progress on SDG 4 on education and the future of education for sustainable development agenda. What shifts in thinking around education for sustainable development are needed to be translated into the new learning curriculum? What measures must higher education institutions (HEIs) adopt to prepare a new generation of leaders for the sustainable development era and beyond? What can we do at early levels of education to better prime students to navigate life’s changes, seek possibilities for growth, and create opportunities for productive livelihoods? What kinds of education networks and partnerships are essential to ensure meaningful action toward helping educational institutions contribute to building inclusive, productive, and healthy societies?
